August #6 - Twelve yr anniversary

Zoo tunes concert Andrew Bird to celebrate our anniversary
at the city viewpoint.... you can't see it?

white out due to particulates and smoke

running again. St. Edwards Park with Ms. J.

On our actual anniversary, we did yard work: tree pruning and plum and apple harvesting

R was very husbandly and thoughtful and cleaned the haze off the 10 yr old headlamps.
These rushes spread a little more than i wanted in the backyard. i was going to toss them into the food and yard waste, but R had the good idea to try transplanting to the rockery.  It would be great if they survive the move and spread in the rockery.
R hated that wood screen by the front door and now it's gone. cross off that big project!

August #5 - Deception Pass

camping with friends. E&J let us crash their campsite for group gatherings.  they have a nice homey feel with the table covered nice and clean. they brought water guns for all the boys. kept a fire going all day. and provided music on a speaker.

The boys at an overlook of the bridge by the beach

we hung out on the beach that morning. this is the funny moment when we realized our husbands are all the same. ... homebodies who we drag out on adventures.
A fun time at the beach ... moments before E faceplanted in the water..

Fabulous Potluck: J's grilled flank steak and E's roasted broccoli over the fire were good! E loved the tacos

 3 only children.
The whole gang
Already looking forward to next year

August #4 - Crystal

Rob stepped up to take my place in Ragnar, so we went ahead with the trip to Crystal to practice the runs.  He returned from the first run to get the news that they found a replacement, so we spent the next morning enjoying walking around the ski resort before heading home the next morning.

C&N shared sweet candy grapes from their vines and 5 alpine strawberry plants. love their garden and their friendship.

E picking fresh strawberries!

R planted some strawberry plants in the rockery that C had given as a gift from her garden

wildfire smoke becoming an annual problem? this is morning drive to work.
E's martial arts camp.
Alki hosted the 30th year anniversary of the SubPop record label with one big day of music.  R enjoyed the day with his son and friends, while i avoided the crowds chilling at home.  kind of exciting.
R and E had a father and son bowling outing.

bike camp was a hit this year.

August #3 parents visit

We brought our picnic lunch to eat at our friends house in Seward Park. It was one hot day, but super pleasant on their deck under the umbrella.  So exciting watching and hearing the Blue Angels swooping thru the sky overhead for Seafair!
Then Grandma and Grandpa took E for a special treat along with them on their Canada trip.
G&G showed E a historic castle in Canada

 Butchart Gardens

E enjoyed a petting zoo with peacocks, goats, and llamas

sushi in the park for dinner after the Royal British Museum and the children's farm.
In and out of the pool and hot tub.  He decided hotel pools are the most fun.

peach for breakfast by the seashore.
then post breakfast exercise on the balance beam (in flip flops like an island boy).

He made friendship bracelets during the drive, sharing one with Grandpa.
